We were recently provided excellent evidence of the merit of such additional efforts as major congestion at the port in Singapore hindered operations, causing substantial delays for importers and exporters forced to make use of the route. Fortunately for our clients, our team have managed to seamlessly counteract this issue by redirecting shipments through Genoa (Genova) Port, at which point they pass through Port Kelang or Tanjung Pelepas en route to the client.
This simple yet effective rerouting effort has allowed us to avoid the massive delays experienced by many others, which could last up to three weeks for the worst affected.
Despite the extra cost involved for the road transport of goods sourced from nearer La Spezia, this is both expected when rerouting from the East coast of Italy, and a worthwhile cost to safeguard our clients’ interests.
These alternate routes also aided our operations in the UK as the port at Felixstowe suffered the ill-effects of high winds, which made operations at the port dangerous and thus caused a few days delay in the loading and shipping of containers.
This necessitated the transport of goods from the port via rail, though the closure of the Orwell Bridge led to widespread congestion which plagued efforts by port workers to operate as usual.
